Response to the Cry of the Earth

The Response to the Cry of the Earth is a call to protect our common home for the wellbeing of all, as we equitably address the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and ecological sustainability. It calls us to consider how through caring for the environment, we are considering the livelihood of others as well.

This goal will cover themes of Energy, Renewable Energy, Water, Carbon Footprint Measurement and Biodiversity.

Highlights of what we have planned to achieve by end of 2025: -

·       Changing our electricity contracts to 100% renewable energy

·       Investigate and install solar opportunities.

·       Measuring our Carbon Footprint.

·       Water tank Audit across all Properties.

·       Investigate operations for water saving fixtures as part of government programs.

·       Recording our current efforts regarding Biodiversity into a central repository.

·       Ongoing management of our BioBank agreement with NSW government.

 

What we have achieved: -

·       Small scale sites now have 50% renewable electricity.

·       Solar audit completed.

·       Leadership approval to increase small scale sites to 75% in July 2024 and 100% in January 2025.

·       Leadership approval to include large scale sites to 100% renewable electricity by January 2025.

·       Carbon footprint measured on our 2022 calendar year.

·       Development of a Carbon Reduction Plan.
